Itinerary:
DAY 1: Londrossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp
- Distance: 4.8km (3-4 hrs)
- Terrain: Rainforest
- Your adventure begins with a scenic drive from Moshi/Arusha to Kilimanjaro National Park Gate. After completing the necessary permits, hike through lush rainforest and enjoy an introduction to the local flora and fauna.
- Elevation: 2389m to 2785m (396m gained)
DAY 2: Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira I Camp
- Distance: 7.9km (4-6 hrs)
- Terrain: Moorland
- As you ascend, leave the rainforest behind and begin to enjoy expansive views of the Shira Plateau. With the higher elevation, temperatures begin to cool as you continue your trek upwards.
- Elevation: 2785m to 3504m (719m gained)
DAY 3: Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira Hut
- Distance: 6.9km (5-7 hrs)
- Terrain: Moorland
- Continue your exploration of the Shira Plateau, acclimatizing to the altitude while immersing yourself in the magnificent scenery that surrounds you.
- Elevation: 3504m to 3895m (391m gained)
DAY 4: Shira Hut to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp
- Distance: 10.1km (4-6 hrs)
- Terrain: Semi Desert
- Ascend to Lava Tower for further acclimatization before descending to Barranco Camp. As you descend, you’ll experience a variety of ecosystems, from semi-desert landscapes to alpine environments.
- Elevation: 3895m to 3986m (91m gained)
DAY 5: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
- Distance: 5.2km (4-5 hrs)
- Terrain: Alpine Desert
- This day offers a challenge with the famous Barranco Wall, where you’ll gain a rewarding sense of accomplishment as you scale this iconic obstacle.
- Elevation: 3986m to 4034m (48m gained)
DAY 6: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
- Distance: 3.3km (4-5 hrs)
- Terrain: Alpine Desert
- Finish the South Circuit, taking in panoramic views of the summit and preparing for your final ascent. After reaching Barafu Camp, rest and conserve energy for the challenging climb ahead.
- Elevation: 4034m to 4662m (628m gained)
DAY 7: Barafu Camp to Summit, then to Mweka Camp
- Distance: 4.86km (5-7 hrs) up, 13km (5-6 hrs) down
- Terrain: Glaciers, Snow-Capped Summit
- Begin the final ascent to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Reach the summit and celebrate your achievement before descending to Mweka Camp to rest.
- Elevation: 4662m to 5895m (1233m gained), then descent to 3106m
DAY 8: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate to Moshi
- Distance: 9.1km (3-4 hrs)
- Terrain: Rainforest
- After a restful night, descend through the rainforest back to the Mweka Gate, where you will receive your summit certificate and transfer back to Moshi for your celebration.
- Elevation: 3106m to 1633m (1473m lost);
